Most police funding comes from the government, with some paid by local councils through council tax. Ten years ago, only 16 per cent of the cost of policing in Norfolk was paid from council tax. This has now doubled to 32 per cent, and next year it will be even higher at 36 per cent of the total bill.
According to the Home Office, policing and reducing crime remain top priorities but it seems they are not prepared to pay for it. They want local council taxpayers to stump up even more.
I and other Norfolk MPs along with the Chief Constable hope to meet with the Home Office soon to find a workable way forward.

It was a great pleasure to launch the Celebration of Life with Christmas Trees and Illustrated Carols at St Michael and All Angels Church in Bunwell. What an excellent way to celebrate the Christmas story. It speaks to all ages. Victoria, Rollo and I were captivated by the wonderful festive trees which filled every corner of this beautiful country church. |

People had gone to a great deal of trouble with their imaginative designs and the accompanying biblical quotes continued the Christian message. Many congratulations to Ray and Ruth Kemp for organising such a marvellous event, which united the parish.
Victoria and I would like to take this opportunity to send to you our good wishes for Christmas and the New Year.
