SOUTH Norfolk MP Richard Bacon has drawn on young talent to design his House of Commons Christmas card to send this year.

The local MP ran a competition for schools in his South Norfolk constituency asking pupils to draw a picture including an image of the outside or inside of the Houses of Parliament.

The overall winner of the competition was Emily Buck, aged 12, a pupil at Framingham Earl High School. Emily's painting of Big Ben was chosen by an independent panel of judges which included Sally and Ernest List of The Eye Press, who have printed the card, cartoonist Mike Webb and Father Simon Blakesley of the Roman Catholic Church in Diss.

Mr Bacon said: “All the entries were very good and the judges had a hard task in making a final choice. I love Emily's design. It includes religious and festive images and her drawing of Big Ben is magnificent - she has captured the colour of its stonework beautifully”.

As well as having her design printed, Emily received a book token as a prize. The category winners were Emily Weldon also of Framingham Earl High school (12-15s), Gemma Clutton of Woodton Primary School (8-11s) and Rebecca Berry of Ellingham Primary School (under 7s). They also received book tokens.
