SOUTH NORFOLK MP Richard Bacon has welcomed the start of demolition works to remove one of the area's biggest eyesores. Diss firm Hamlin Electronics vacated their Park Road factory in 1996 for a new site on Sawmills Road, but the boarded up factory was unpleasant to look at and became a target for vandals. |

Mr Bacon said: “I am pleased that demolition works are now underway. The factory has been an eyesore for some time and I am sure everyone will be pleased to see it go”. “Everyone is now thinking about what should be done with the site, but it is very early days and there are lots of discussions still to be had”. “I think most people will want to be sure that whatever replaces the factory will benefit all the people of Diss”. The site was bought by Tesco, who recently agreed to demolish the old factory as a goodwill gesture. Talks are set to begin in April about future redevelopment.
