Years of silt, vegetation and fallen trees are scheduled to be removed this autumn from the River Tas by the Environment Agency following a visit to Forncett in March from South Norfolk MP Richard Bacon. Mr Bacon was invited by residents and the parish council to visit the river after fears for lives, properties and livestock were raised. |

Mr Bacon said: “Following my letter to the Environment Agency, I am delighted to learn that it now has a budget to clear the river from Wacton to Hapton during the current financial year”. The Environment Agency is to contact landowners alongside the river about the proposals. It has also been in touch with the County’s Highways Department for improved signage at Wash Lane ford.
Mr Bacon
said: “It’s good news that the Environment Agency plans to maintain the
River Tas every four to five years. People’s lives should not be put at
risk by neglect. 24 August 2009 |
