SOUTH NORFOLK MP Richard Bacon launched Norfolk Gliding Club's celebrations for National Gliding Week (25 June to 2 July) at Tibenham Airfield. Mr Bacon also presented Norfolk Gliding Club with a certificate to mark the club's success in obtaining a £5,000 national lottery grant from Awards for All England to train more gliding instructors.

Introduced by the British Gliding Association, National Gliding Week encourages gliding clubs all over the UK to introduce people to gliding and to consider taking up the sport. During the week, interested groups and individuals will have the chance to fly in a glider either during the day or in the early evening, weather permitting.

Mr Bacon said: “I am delighted that Norfolk Gliding Club has received an Awards for All England grant. I know how thrilling a flight in a glider can be as I have now been lucky enough to enjoy two flights from Tibenham Airfield. I would encourage anyone to contact Norfolk Gliding Club to find out more”.
