discusses hospital finance prior to Hewitt meeting

The Norfolk and Norwich Hospital |
South Norfolk MP Richard Bacon has met with the chief executive of Norfolk and Norwich hospital to discuss the hospital’s finances prior to a meeting between Norfolk MPs and health secretary Patricia Hewitt on Wednesday. Mr Bacon said: “The Norfolk and Norwich hospital has been doing a good job living within its means but due to being both a new hospital and an early PFI venture it does face some extra costs not found at other hospitals. It was very useful to have an update on the latest financial position at the hospital, especially now that NHS pay awards have been settled and that the new national tariff has been announced.” |

Referring to the forthcoming meeting on Wednesday (10 May) between a group of Norfolk MPs and health secretary Patricia Hewitt, Mr Bacon added:
“I will be asking the health secretary to examine carefully whether the Department of Health has fairly taken into account all the relevant factors involved in reaching its decisions over financing levels for the Norfolk and Norwich hospital.”
