SOUTH NORFOLK MP Richard Bacon has been presented with a brace of pheasants by the British Association of Shooting and Conservation (BASC).

Mr Bacon received the gift from Mr William Heal, regional director of the BASC, who made the presentation in order to highlight the laws governing the sale of game in the UK.  The BASC argues some of these laws are antiquated because they pre-date refrigeration and freezing as methods of preservation. 


Mr Bacon also met with woodland and deer management expert Mr Mark Burrage, who brought a selection of venison products for the MP to try, including steaks, sausages and a venison pie.

Mr Bacon said: “I was delighted to receive the brace of pheasants from Mr Heal and the British Association of Shooting and Conservation (BASC). The pheasants are now being prepared by a local butcher and I am looking forward to enjoying them over Christmas”.

“I am also most grateful to Mr Mark Burrage for bringing along some of his excellent venison pies and sausages for me to sample”.
