supply problems. Mr Clive Witherly, the senior manager responsible for electricity distribution in the Diss area, admitted the supply had not been acceptable but outlined a programme of improvements totalling £200,000. This includes the replacement of cables in the Uplands Way and Skelton Road area of Diss, and new switching gear to detect faults and restore supplies within minutes. Among the criticisms expressed by local businesses was the 'derisory' compensation paid to those companies who had lost many hours of production Mr Bacon said: “I am pleased that EDF Energy has announced that this money will be spent locally.
