Richard has written to South Norfolk Council regarding the proposals for a six-turbine windfarm in Tivetshall St Mary

South Norfolk MP Richard Bacon has told South Norfolk Council what he believes the Council should include in its ‘Scoping Opinion’ on a proposed windfarm at Tivetshall St Mary. Mr Bacon said: “I have written to the South Norfolk Council suggesting a wide range of areas which I believe the Council should include in its Scoping Opinion for the proposed wind farm at Tivetshall St Mary. I would encourage local residents do to the same”.

“Our opportunity is now to tell the Council the things we believe the Council should include when drawing up its Scoping Opinion for the developer. I would encourage any local residents concerned about the development of industrial scale wind turbines to contact South Norfolk District Council and make their views known”. You should write to: Head of Planning Services, South Norfolk District Council, South Norfolk House, Swan Lane, Long Stratton, Norfolk NR15 2XE. Your letter should arrive by Tuesday 11 April 2008. What is a scoping opinion?
A Scoping Opinion is not the
same as a planning application. A Scoping Opinion is a letter
sent by the Council to a potential developer in which the
Council states what detailed information it will be expecting the
developer to provide in any planning application that comes
forward, so that the Council can investigate in detail what is
being proposed.
This includes matters such as visual impact, noise, proximity to flight paths, archaeological surveys, impact on hydrology, local ecology, agriculture, plant life, animals and birds, as well as issues such as site access, vehicle movements, and technical matters connected with the site. Before drawing up its Scoping Opinion, the Council asks members of the public what they think are the issues that the Council should take into account.
