SOUTH NORFOLK MP Richard Bacon is soon to tie the knot, after his engagement, to Miss Victoria Panton of Market Drayton in Shropshire, was announced at the end of last year.

The couple met in Bournemouth at the Conservative Party conference in 2004.

Miss Panton, who works as a BBC television news producer, has plenty of experience of life in politics, having previously worked for Sir John Major in 10 Downing Street when he was Prime Minister, as well as working in Westminster.

Mr Bacon said: “I count myself very lucky to have met Victoria and we are both excited about the prospect of a new life together. Victoria loves wildlife and the countryside and has worked in a seal sanctuary, so I am sure she will feel at home in Norfolk”.

Miss Panton said: “I was delighted when Richard asked me to marry him. He is the most fun person I have ever met. I have found people in Norfolk warm and welcoming and I am looking forward to getting to know the county much better”.
