South Norfolk MP ties the knot

SOUTH NORFOLK MP Richard Bacon has married Miss Victoria Panton in an enchanting service at St Margaret's Church, Westminster Abbey.

The bride wore a beautiful buttermilk dress with a crushed velvet jacket and full veil. The tiara was lent to Victoria by one of Mr Bacon's constituents.

In a break with tradition, the bride and groom entered the church together to the Prelude to Charpentier's Te Deum.

The ceremony was conducted by Canon Robert Wright, Rector of St Margaret's Church and Chaplain to the Speaker of the House of Commons. Readings were delivered by the bride's sister, Mrs Sarah Hope, who read from the Song of Solomon 2: 10-1; Mr Robert Pigott, who read from Romans 12: 3 – 16; and by Mr Bacon's step-father, Professor John Campbell OBE, who read from 1 John 4: 7-12.

Hymns chosen for the occasion were: All people that on earth do dwell; Dear Lord and Father of mankind; and Praise, my soul, the King of Heaven. The Choir of St Margaret's, under the direction of Aidan Oliver, also sang The Lamb by John Tavener; All things bright and beautiful in the setting by John Rutter, and - as the couple signed the register - the Gloria and the Credo from Mozart’s Coronation Mass.

After the service, the couple led a procession of guests to the House of Commons, where the newlyweds enjoyed a reception in the Members' Dining Room. Pride of place went to the magnificent three-tier wedding cake topped with two pink pigs.

Mr Bacon said: "The day went brilliantly and we are both absolutely thrilled. Victoria looked incredible. I am a very lucky man".

Victoria, now Mrs Bacon said: "It was the happiest day of my life. I am looking forward to our life together and getting to know Norfolk better".

The couple are honeymooning in Wales.
