and teaching them a sense of rhythm and timing. Then, using some of the instruments the children had made themselves along with violins, woodwind and percussion instruments, the youngsters took part in a new musical work commissioned by Nestle UK especially for children. Called Rita and the Wolf, the piece was composed by Jonathan Dove with words by children's author Anthony Horowitz. Mr Bacon, who lists his recreation in Who's Who as 'playing the bongos', said: “This is a splendid way to encourage children to enjoy music. Music has always played an important part in my life and I've had a great time taking part with the children in the workshop”. The 4Children out-of-school club (formerly known as Kids' Club) has been run at All Saints Primary, Winfarthing for over ten years and is an optional activity at the end of the day for children at the school. Mr Bacon said: “The range of activities covered by the out-of-school club is excellent and the children obviously enjoy them. The club is also a great help to working parents knowing that their children are being well cared for after school. Headteacher Mrs Elizabeth Rollin is to be congratulated”.
