You asked for some information about numbers of people working in the Treasury.

At p91 there is a table showing numbers of staff in the core each year - as you
surmised, about 1200. The key observation to make however is that the downward
path projected for the future will not happen. The new responsibilities (the
asset protection scheme, the infrastructure finance unit and so on) we have
recently taken on have caused us to need to hire more people. I can't give you
firm numbers but our next report should be out next month if all goes well.
You might also find the organogram from our website of interest. It is at <<HM
Treasury organisational chart (PDF 115KB).url>> and is pretty close to up to
date.
