The Eight Points of Campaigning
-
BE READY for the long haul.
-
UNDERSTAND the planning process
- Read the planning file at the local council - all
correspondence is there;
- It is a step-by-step process;
- Parishes must object;
- Only objections on planning grounds will be
accepted.
-
READ EVERYTHING you can
- E.g. in the Environmental Impact Assessment;
- Only local people will pick up on the errors which
will be there.
-
NETWORK - others have been there
- Useful information on wildlife law.
-
TEST EVERY CLAIM the developer makes
- You have the right to the data the developer has used
to reach their assumptions;
- The Law is on YOUR side.
-
DOCUMENT EVERYTHING you do
-
BE PROFESSIONAL
- Don't make wild claims;
- Make sure that anything you say you can back up with
evidence;
- Marshall your facts.
-
RAISE MONEY
- Have your own independent experts.
